Req #: 0000257859

Status: Salaried

Shift: Day

Pay Range: $280,000.00 - $392,000.00 per year

Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated annual salary range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Vice President, Lung Health

The Vice President, Lung Health will serve as the system executive responsible for designing, operationalizing and continuously improving a fully integrated Thoracic Surgery and Pulmonary Medicine service line. The role requires an experienced, independent leader who can align clinical programs, hospital operations, physician leaders, ambulatory access, diagnostics, administration and market strategy around one seamless lung health model. The Vice President, Lung Health reports directly to the President and CEO, Monmouth Medical Center/ Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus with a matrixed reporting relationship to the Chief of Thoracic Surgery and Medical Director of Lung Health.  The service line will be built around exceptional patient experience, timely diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, superior outcomes and the ability to accept and manage complex patients who may not be served by other systems.

As Vice President, Lung Health, a typical day might include the following:

  • Review progress against the service line’s strategic priorities, growth plan, and annual performance agenda across the health system’s hospitals and ambulatory sites.
  • Meet with thoracic surgery, pulmonary medicine, hospital, and administrative leaders to address barriers, align priorities, and strengthen integration across the lung health continuum.
  • Monitor access, referrals, diagnostic turnaround times, procedural scheduling, care coordination, and follow-up to identify opportunities to create a more seamless symptoms-to-treatment experience.
  • Review quality, safety, outcomes, patient satisfaction, financial performance, referral capture, growth, and operational metrics—and translate findings into actionable improvements.
  • Partner with physicians, oncology, radiology, pathology, primary care, and other stakeholders to expand advanced lung services, strengthen multidisciplinary care, and position the program as a destination for complex patients.
  • Engage executive and frontline leaders, remove operational barriers, resolve complex or sensitive issues, and ensure consistent adoption of standardized pathways, governance practices, and performance expectations across the system.

This role might be for you if:

  • You are an experienced healthcare leader who is energized by building and transforming complex, multidisciplinary service lines across a large health system.
  • You have a track record of bringing physicians, clinical teams, hospital operations, and corporate stakeholders together around a shared strategy and vision.
  • You thrive on improving the patient journey and have experience connecting access, diagnostics, treatment, care coordination, and long-term management into a seamless care model.
  • You are comfortable using financial, operational, quality, and outcomes data to identify opportunities, reduce variation, improve performance, and drive measurable results.
  • You have experience growing programs and developing centers of excellence that attract complex patients, strengthen referral networks, and build regional or national market recognition.
  • You are a highly collaborative, influential leader who can navigate complex organizational dynamics, build consensus, resolve sensitive issues, and create accountability across a diverse, multidisciplinary environment.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have at least 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare management, service line leadership, and/or strategic planning, a master’s degree in a related healthcare or finance field is strongly preferred. You should have demonstrated success leading complex clinical operations, strategic initiatives, financial planning, business development, and multidisciplinary teams, with strong analytical skills and the ability to translate operational, financial, and outcomes data into measurable improvements. Experience in an academic medical center, clinical or quality management, and as a Registered Nurse or Registered Respiratory Therapist is preferred. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate exceptional executive communication, consensus-building, change leadership, and the ability to navigate complex organizational, political, and financial environments while advancing systemwide priorities.

Other Things to Know:
This job description outlines the core responsibilities of the role, but it’s not meant to cover every task you may take on. As with any dynamic organization, duties may shift over time based on team needs and priorities—and we’re looking for someone who’s flexible and ready to grow with us.
