Emergency Veterinary Technician (Overnight) | San Francisco, California | Bay Area
Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant | Emergency & Specialty Care | San Francisco, California
We’re looking for a compassionate, skilled, and upbeat Veterinary Emergency Technician to join our close-knit team and make a real difference when pets need us most.

Who we’re looking for

  • A well-rounded technical skill set and a solid clinical knowledge base
  • At least one year of experience working as a technician in a veterinary hospital
  • Registered veterinary technician preferred, but not required
Because we’re a 24-hour emergency hospital, we’re looking for someone who is ready to shine beyond the standard weekday 9-to-5 and help us care for patients when they need us most.
What you’ll do
  • Assist veterinarians and fellow team members with efficiency and professionalism
  • Safely restrain animals using low-stress, patient-centered handling techniques
  • Collaborate positively and effectively with coworkers across the hospital
  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients and medical care to outpatients
  • Operate in-house laboratory equipment accurately and efficiently
  • Take digital radiographs safely and effectively
  • Calculate medication dosages accurately
  • Administer medications via prescribed routes, including PO, SC, IM, and IV
  • Demonstrate proficiency with venous and urinary catheter placement
  • Build and apply advanced emergency nursing skills
  • Stay confident and capable in a wide range of emergency medicine scenarios
  • Deliver thoughtful client communication and compassionate patient care
  • Prepare and monitor patients for sedated and anesthetic procedures, including setup, anesthesia monitoring, and recovery care
