Job description

Bridge Inspector Indot

A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Bridge Inspector Indot to support and grow within its structural inspection team across the Midwest. This position offers a clear path to leading inspection efforts while working on transportation infrastructure projects for public-sector clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with field-based bridge inspections, including documentation, data collection, and report preparation
  • Maintain and organize inspection equipment, coordinate schedules, and support team logistics
  • Progress into a leadership role overseeing on-site inspection activities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including roadway, water resources, environmental, survey, and utility professionals
  • Ensure accurate data entry and compliance with inspection standards and reporting requirements

Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), or
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program with EIT certification, or
  • Equivalent experience (3+ years) in bridge design, construction, or maintenance in lieu of a degree
  • Familiarity with state-level bridge inspection standards is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to work in field environments, including uneven terrain and active job sites
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Willingness to travel for inspections (including occasional overnight assignments)
  • Interest in advancing to a Bridge Inspection Team Leader role
