Job description

We are looking for a talented all-rounder to join our production team, responsible for producing, shooting and editing headline-grabbing interviews, documentaries and live broadcasts.

This is a hands-on role that combines high-quality video production with ownership of our New York studio. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day management, operation and technical readiness of the studio, ensuring it is always prepared to deliver professional live and recorded content.

A key part of this role is leading the technical delivery of live streaming productions. You will oversee the setup, operation and troubleshooting of live broadcasts across multiple platforms, ensuring seamless execution of live interviews, discussions and special events.

The successful candidate should have extensive hands-on production experience, a strong news sense and the ability to identify compelling stories and maximise the reach and impact of our content.

As a busy newsroom, our content is often produced at short notice in response to breaking news. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt quickly to changing priorities and, when required, support productions outside normal working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Please note this role is full-time and office-based in New York, US. Salary is dependent on experience.

  • Collaborate closely with editorial teams to plan and deliver compelling video content around breaking news and major events.
  • Optimise content for YouTube and other digital platforms to maximise audience reach and engagement.
  • Help develop production workflows and continually improve the quality and efficiency of studio output

  • Deep technical knowledge of professional video production workflows, with hands-on experience operating high-end cameras, audio equipment and production hardware.
  • Expert proficiency with Mac OS and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with vMix, DaVinci Resolve and other live production software is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of live production workflows, streaming technologies and broadcast best practice.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused individual who takes ownership and works calmly under pressure to deliver high-quality output.
  • Excellent understanding of camera, lighting, audio and editing equipment.
  • A flair for creating distinctive, engaging video content.
  • Knowledge of YouTube, SEO and how to package content for maximum audience engagement.
  • Understanding of digital content distribution and promotion across multiple platforms.
  • Strong news sense and an understanding of where UnHerd fits within the media landscape.
