Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
Project & Facilities Management
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of UF/IFAS construction, renovation, capital-improvement, and utility-infrastructure projects across the state.
  • Identify and prioritize projects related to deferred maintenance, facility upgrades, and infrastructure needs.
  • Develop project scopes and negotiate contracts with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate closely with user groups to ensure project requirements, timelines, and expectations are met.
  • Oversee construction activities from planning through warranty and close-out, ensuring full compliance with funding regulations and UF procedures.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership to other IFAS/FPO project managers.
  • Travel to UF/IFAS locations statewide, including occasional overnight trips using a state vehicle.

Facilities Analysis & Strategic Improvements
  • Assess existing facilities and infrastructure to develop solutions that reduce deferred-maintenance backlogs with minimal supervision.
  • Research, analyze, and interpret data for special projects, communicating findings to construction and maintenance teams.
  • Recommend updates to policies, procedures, and best practices to improve operational efficiency and project delivery.

Collaboration on Major UF Projects
  • Partner with UF Planning, Design & Construction on major IFAS projects to ensure alignment with IFAS goals and user needs.
  • Support project managers and stakeholders throughout planning, design, and construction phases.
  • Travel to project sites as needed to support coordination and ensure project objectives are met.

Expected Salary:
$75,000-$85,000; commensurate with education and experience
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, planning or building construction and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
Preferred:
• State university system facilities management preferred.
• Expertise in renovation and construction management.
• Experience in site planning.
• Knowledge of UF Project Tracker, myUF MarketPlace, STARS, Autodesk, BIM 360, and Maxpanda.
• Ability to adapt easily to new and changing software.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to secure key stakeholder investment.
• Understanding of UF funding regulations in relationship to construction purchases.
• Understanding of utilities, blueprints, and basic maintenance equipment.
• Experience with building permitting, especially EH&S requirements.
