  • Build strong relationships with volunteer leaders and subject-matter experts, providing structure, facilitation, and follow-through to committee initiatives.
  • Support the development of new technical committees and strengthen engagement with existing committees.
  • Serve as a technical resource for ASM handbooks, journals, special issues, and other technical content, providing subject-matter guidance and quality review.
  • Collaborate with content, digital, media, and other internal teams to identify and develop new technical products and resources that meet members and industry needs.
  • Identify emerging technical topics, industry trends, and market opportunities that can inform ASM’s content, products, and programs.
  • Work with event committees and staff to strengthen technical programming, including topics, speakers, keynote content, and opportunities to expand industry participation.
  • Facilitate collaboration between technical volunteers and ASM staff across content, events, marketing, and other functions.
  • Manage multiple technical projects and priorities, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and follow-through.
  • Represent ASM professionally with members, volunteers, industry professionals, and other external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • 4-5 years of experience in materials engineering, materials-related industry, or a closely related technical field.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to balance technical rigor with audience needs, market relevance, and business opportunities.
  • Experience with technical publications, professional societies, committees, technical events, or volunteer organizations is a plus.
  • Experience with metals, materials processing/testing, technical education, or technical content development is preferred.
