Job description
Reporting to the Supervisor/Manager this position is responsible for coordinating and executing engineering activities. The role requires high technical aptitude and problem-solving ability, and excellent teamwork skills to be successful.
• Influences project decisions having a moderate impact on the company that may include leading employees or contractors in the commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
• Applies technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction.
Job Description:
- Performs assignments in specialized areas requiring engineering expertise.
- Prepares functional specifications for completeness and consider practical limitations.
- Coordinates of design activities as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers.
- Reviews and authenticate designs.
- Works in planning, coordination, budgeting, and cost estimating.
- Develops and updates single line diagrams, and design drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Supports material procurement.
- Conducts QA/QC design review, and support closing gaps and managing lessons learned.
- Provides engineering support to field and construction groups.
- Utilizes, develop, and improve engineering processes and standards.
- Provides reporting, including presentations to work groups and management.
- Position may be required to work extended hours including major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description:
Minimum Qualifications
Education and experience
- BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
- Five years of applicable engineering experience or a combination of education and applicable engineering experience. Master's degree or a Puerto Rico PE License counts as one year.
Licenses
- "Associate" Certificate issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects.
Skills
- General knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform assignments for a specific discipline, various installations, or services
- Business knowledge in the utility & regulated environment.
- Proven experience applying sound judgment to make decisions.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship development skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
- Excellent team player and ability to prioritize assignments to meet commitments.
- Problem-solving skills with proven ability to resolve engineering issues.
