Job description

Our Community
The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony represents descendants of three Great Basin Indigenous peoples: the Numu (Northern Paiute), Newe (Western Shoshone), and Washeshu (Washoe). These communities lived in harmony with the land for generations before European contact, following seasonal cycles and forming small, efficient social groups for survival.
Each group's name means "The People" in their own language, reflecting their deep cultural identity and connection to the Earth. They maintained strong traditions, respected neighboring tribes, and engaged in trade throughout the region.
Today, the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony continues to honor these traditions while supporting the well-being, culture, and future of its tribal community.
The Opportunity
As an Information Technology Technician II, you'll help keep RSIC's technology reliable and secure by supporting day-to-day operations across desktops, servers, applications, networking, and telecommunications.
Key responsibilities include installing/configuring computers and approved software; monitoring operating systems and applications to troubleshoot issues; assisting with network servers and VoIP systems; handling help-desk calls and end-user support; coordinating with Managed Services consultants, vendors, and backup processes; recommending and implementing upgrades to protect system integrity; maintaining licensing records and IT supplies specs; completing network/telecom cabling; and assisting with RSIC website updates.
Required qualifications:
- Associate's degree in computer science OR 5+ years' professional networking/repair/software support experience
- Working knowledge of CAT 5/5e/6 cabling, termination, and jacks
- Proficiency in RSIC applications within 1 month (Blackbaud, Accufund, Microsoft Office, VoIP)
- Programming principles knowledge; strong written/verbal communication
- Age 21+ with eligibility for RSIC vehicle insurance; physical/manual dexterity
Apply to help deliver dependable technology support across RSIC.
A Typical Day
Your morning often starts by checking overnight alerts, backups, and open tickets, then prioritizing what will keep teams productive. You'll move between quick desk-side fixes and focused work in server/network spaces-coordinating timing with Managed Services so updates and changes are smooth.
Midday is usually a mix of phone/VoIP questions, account or application hiccups, and helping staff get comfortable with approved tools through short, practical coaching. You may document a solution, update licensing notes, or prep purchase specs for needed supplies.
Later in the day, you'll validate that core systems stay connected (email, file access, conferencing, and administrative platforms), wrap up follow-ups with vendors, and leave clear notes so issues don't linger. The pace is steady, service-oriented, and rooted in solving problems the right way.
Benefits Package
- Medical insurance
- Dental insurance
- Vision insurance
- 401(k)
- Life insurance
- Paid Time Off
Please Note: Hiring preference is provided to qualified members of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony followed by members of other federally recognized tribes.
