Overnight Robotics Integrator information
What is the difference between Overnight Robotics Integrator vs Robotics Technician?
| Aspect | Overnight Robotics Integrator | Robotics Technician |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Typically requires technical certifications or associate degrees in robotics or automation | Usually requires an associate degree or technical diploma in robotics, electronics, or related fields |
| Work Environment | Primarily works in manufacturing or warehouse settings, often overnight shifts | Works in industrial, manufacturing, or maintenance environments, often during day shifts |
| Employer & Industry | Employers include automation companies, manufacturing plants, logistics firms | Employers include factories, maintenance companies, and automation service providers |
The main difference between an Overnight Robotics Integrator and a Robotics Technician lies in their focus and shift timing. The Integrator specializes in installing and configuring robotic systems overnight, often requiring specific certifications and working during off-hours. In contrast, the Robotics Technician performs maintenance and troubleshooting during regular hours. Both roles are essential in automation industries but differ in scope and scheduling.

Job description
Location: Huntsville, AL
DeSHAZO provides various companies with engineered solutions that help to improve the quality or productivity of an existing manufacturing/assembly process. Their engineering teams visit customer sites, observe manufacturing processes and prepare a 3-D conceptual design of the equipment or system to meet client's requirements. Their engineering teams design, build, and install one work cell or a complete automation system in various facilities. They focus on automated systems for manufacturing environments with processes such as assembly, testing/inspection, material handling, welding, equipment control, and robotic vision and packaging systems. Most of their customers work in heavy manufacturing or automotive industries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering preferred, but willing to look at anyone that has machine design experience with or without a degree
- Machine design (minimum of 5 years) preferably with an automation/robot integrator.
- 3d design; Solidworks preferred (Solidworks macro knowledge would be a plus)
- Mechanical aptitude when dealing with machined parts, problem solving, and ability to be hands-on if needed. Understand tolerances and equipment assembly and fit up.
- Ability to work without being managed/task oriented/self-starter
- Have project management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ideal candidate: a BSME, Solidworks modeling and macros experience, and 5+ years of machine design.
- Great communication with their colleagues related to the projects, as well as their clients.
- Good listeners and able to analyze what their clients need and respond in a timely manner.
- High quality designs and are very efficient when producing designs.
- Minimum supervision and can be given a task and receive little or no guidance; however, still get the projects done on time and within budget.
Performance Measures:
- Most projects for this position last on average around 18 weeks.
- Based on the project, the designer will be measured on completing it on time and within budget.
- Ability to produce accurate and efficient drawings with little to no rework.
- Weekly team meeting to discuss where each project stands regarding to budgeting and timing.
- Performance is posted on the employee's task list and in the shop for all employees to see the project schedule.
Travel:
- 10-15% overnight travel; while installs at clients typically last anywhere from 7-14 days, the mechanical designers will only be required to be there 3-5 days at most projects.
