Job description

Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) Registered Nurse (RN)

Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties: The Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) Registered Nurse (RN) exercises leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of hardware and software applications integrated with the electronic health record (EHR) and associated programs/applications. The Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) Registered Nurse (RN) collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at the facility and network. They work closely to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of Veteran Affairs (VA) staff nationwide. The Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) Registered Nurse (RN) will assist in directing the provision of education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation. The Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) Registered Nurse (RN) provides operational support to the clinical staff that includes ongoing Automated Data Packages (ADP) training, customization of packages to maximize end-user benefits of packages, integration of off-the-shelf products into the Medical Center's electronic environment, and daily problem solving. The Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) Registered Nurse (RN)collaborates with the Information Resource Management (IRM) Department or Regional Operations Center (ROC) that is responsible for implementing computerized EHR and clinical software packages in the Medical Center. The Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) Registered Nurse (RN) participates in planning, organizing, implementing, facilitating, and evaluating multi- and inter- disciplinary ADPs.

Supervisory Controls: The incumbent is responsible to the assigned rating and approving supervisors and is accountable to the Chief of Staff (COS). Dimensions of Nursing Practice: Leads professional practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to improve evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes for an identified patient population and/or specialized areas within immediate practice setting. Leadership: Communicates and collaborates as an effective leader of the interprofessional team, at the expert level, with improved evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes for the immediate practice setting. Customer Services Requirements: Meets the needs of all customers while supporting the Medical Center and Service missions. Consistently communicates and treats customers (patients, visitors, volunteers, and all Medical Center staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Provides the customers with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.
