Job description

Act as primary liaison and oversee carriers/TPAs, various vendors, various regulatory agencies to explain 3PL Casualty, Property, Marine and Workers' Compensation programs. Answer questions, resolve issues, and complaints concerning benefits/risks/insurance. Investigate potential for 3rd party liability (subrogation) and ensure notification of parties at the time of investigation or as soon as there is an indication of 3rd party involvement. Assist with general risk management activities including insurance renewals, certificates of insurance, and other duties as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities
Serve as primary liaison for the carriers/TPAs, defense counsel, and various vendors and oversee their performance.
Manage coordination of prompt and thorough claims investigations to determine eligibility and compensability (3-point contacts) within 24 hours of receiving notice and prepare concise written investigation notes.
Communicate effectively with management, coworkers, providers, consultants, and representatives from various regulatory agencies to explain 3PL Casualty, Property, Marine and Workers' Compensation programs, answer questions, resolve issues, and complaints concerning benefits while establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships.
Coordinate with Sales Team Project manages to evaluate the Risk of potential new business. Reviewing property structure and safety regulations, scope of the business including evaluating products and determining the appropriate insurance coverage needed to support the business.
Assist insurance carriers to investigate potential for 3rd party liability (subrogation) and ensure notification of parties at the time of investigation or as soon as there is an indication of 3rd party involvement.
Evaluate and determine appropriate monetary reserves assigned to cover the potential exposure of claims. Provide documentation of rationale for reserve changes via monthly business unit reserve change analysis reports and month end accounting reports.
Manage all phases of claims and respond on behalf of the company to discovery requests as approved by Supply Chain Corporate Legal Department; conducting research, interpreting and applying findings to properly resolve claims; and engage claims managers and defense attorneys in litigation strategy and claim resolution discussions with managers.
Provide technical directions and training to third party administrators, outside defense counsel, internal customers, and coworkers to ensure compliance with applicable statutes and related rules and regulations.
Conduct regular claim audits to measure administrators' performance and represent company in audits conducted by state agencies, respond to auditors' findings, and act as liaison between company and state agencies.
Develop and generate ad-hoc reports/queries in support of claim related information needs and day-to-day activities and analyze statistical claim data
Assist with general risk management activities including insurance renewals, certificates of insurance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
8 years of relevant experience with at least 4 years of assessing risks & claims including serious injury and complex litigation claims on a national level
Strong knowledge of workers' compensation, contracts, damages, agency, subrogation, contribution/indemnity, insurance and other applicable/related laws, as well as related concepts and practices
Preferred Qualifications & Experience :
Insurance Designation (eg. Associates in Claims or equivalent)
Skills & Abilities :
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, and ADP HRIS/Payroll
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, customer service, and problem resolution and conflict management skills
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in claims management decisions and problem resolution strategies
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple functions with accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to analyze statistical claims and financial data
Strong communication skills
