Job description

Williams Parker, the region's largest and oldest law firm founded in 1925, is seeking an experienced Labor & Employment Attorney with 5-10 years of experience and a portable book of business to join our dynamic team in Sarasota, Florida.

As a Labor & Employment Attorney with Williams Parker, you will represent public and private employers of all sizes. You will represent clients in federal and state courts, as well as before federal, state, and local administrative agencies. You will also assist clients with risk management and workplace policies, helping employers avoid claims and minimize litigation by providing preventive daily advice, periodic formal training, employment audits, and training seminars to educate clients about human resource issues. You will help managers with difficult hiring, discipline, layoff, and termination issues; respond to internal complaints; and help clients traverse high-risk situations.

Requirements

  • Education: Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Licensure: Member of The Florida Bar or licensed to practice law in another state and in good standing. Florida Bar Board Certification in a relevant area is preferred.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of experience in the following areas is highly preferred: ADA, affirmative action, arbitration, class action, counseling, e-discovery, EEOC, employee benefits, ERISA, FLSA, immigration, investigations, labor relations, litigation, NLRB, OSHA, Title VII, wage & hour, and whistleblower.
  • Client Service & Relationship Building: Demonstrates a client-centric mindset with strong interpersonal skills to build lasting relationships based on trust, collaboration, and professionalism.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Effectively conveys complex legal concepts in writing and speech, fostering teamwork across clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Strategic Thinking & Problem Solving: Anticipates legal risks, adapts to changing priorities, and provides sound, ethical counsel with attention to detail and resilience.
  • Business Development & Initiative: Proactively cultivates a portable book of business, generates new opportunities, and takes ownership of projects with self-motivation and accountability.
  • Leadership & Time Management: Provides mentorship to junior attorneys and professional staff, manages competing demands, and maintains high standards in a fast-paced environment.
