Purpose of the Job
Obtain experience not available to most entry level attorneys and get on the fast track to becoming a courtroom litigation attorney in areas including misdemeanor, juvenile and felony prosecution!
Deputy County Attorney Positions available in Globe with the Gila County Attorney's Office. Gila County is a rural area, only 60-90 miles from the Phoenix Metro area, with forests, mountains and beautiful Roosevelt Lake.
Entry level positions available with a pay range from $79,769 to $99,711;
Senior Attorney (minimum of two 2 years' experience) with a pay range from $87,945 to $109,932;
Principle Attorney (minimum of 5 years' experience, to include criminal trial experience) with a pay range of $96,960 to $121,200.

The purpose of this position is to ensure the safety of the citizens of Gila County and the security of their property and to seek punishment for criminal offenders.
This position drafts court documents, represents victims in court and argues their cases, and negotiates with the opposing counsel. The attorney also communicates with relevant parties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position occasionally assigns activities to other employees.

  • Drafts court documents, including plea offers and motions.

  • Appears in court for oral argument or trials; represents victims.

  • Communicates with victims, police officers, public, victims' advocates and supervisors.

BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no responsibility over any types of budget.
PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides project resource allocation based on pre-approved resources on technology projects.
ORAL COMMUNICATION DUTIES
This position trains colleagues, explains County procedures, participates in meetings, speaks with the media, conducts meetings and provides advocacy before the courts.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATION DUTIES
This position creates or edits documents, internal memos, emails, procedures, court pleadings, motions, formal letters and press releases.
INTERACTIONS WITH THE GENERAL PUBLIC
Interacts extensively with employees, customers, the general public, vendors, regulatory bodies, and other groups and/or individuals and Institutions over the telephone, by email, and/or in person.

Minimum Education/Directly Related Experience Required
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
Juris Doctorate Degree
MINIMUM YEARS OF DIRECTLY RELATED EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS REQUIRED/PREFERRED
Arizona Supreme Court Bar Licensure, Arizona Bar Association Membership.
Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License.
