The primary purpose of the Overnight Program Guide is to ensure resident safety. Overnight Program Guides are responsible for executing Pacific Quest's mission of providing individualized, sustainable, personal development within a safe, structured, experiential and natural environment in a culture of unconditional support and personal responsibility. In addition, this is a flexible/dynamic position providing housekeeping, administrative and daytime/overnight program guide and administrative support. Assistance with resident transports may also be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Keep watch over residents at rest and during awake hours as assigned and directed by Resident Supervisors or Program Directors
  • Ensure all safety policies, protocols, and watches are adhered to
  • Maintain resident confidentiality
  • Ensure all work locations and common areas are clean and organized
  • Fulfills administrative duties as assigned (i.e. totes, paper shredding, oracles, etc.)
  • Accurate documentation of all incidents involving residents and guides
  • Maintain consistent communication with Supervisors regarding resident activities
  • Drive company vehicles in emergency situations / evacuations, and for transports
  • Must have flexibility and be available to report to work during various work shifts, and at alternate worksites
  • Provide de-escalation techniques, regulating techniques and enforce boundaries with residents
  • Facilitate Red Alerts when / if the need arises, and participate in alert and evac drills
  • Fill in as needed for logistical and program needs, which could include working in other capacities as needed and assigned
  • Participate in the review process at the 90-day and 1-year marks
Additional Duties Specific to Overnight Guide Role
  • Support programming and logistical needs as assigned. This may include: housekeeping duties; food preparation support; resident supervision and activities during waking hours
  • Immediately notify supervisor in the event of a crisis
  • Assisting late-night arriving residents with nighttime hygiene and pre-bedtime routines
  • Remain alert, awake, and quiet through the overnight hours while assessing resident safety fronting the bunks; 15 minute bed checks once clients are asleep
  • Mandated overtime may be required until relief staff is on site, or extra staffing is needed; this may be awake or asleep duties
  • Routinely scheduled security checks throughout facilities  
  • Must attend monthly staff meetings and mandatory trainings
  • Additional duties as assigned
Required Skills/Qualifications
  • Experience working with at-risk populations (preferred)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work safely and alertly during work hours
  • Requires ability to be a team player, to form mutually respectful relationships with employees and to grow professionally in meeting the challenges of the position
  • Must provide and maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.  CPR certifications must be from in-person training
  • Must maintain CPI-Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training (provided by Pacific Quest)
  • Most remain current on annual training requirements; participation in training during daytime hours as required
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised  
  • Ability to maintain an appropriate and safe work environment and work in a constant state of alertness
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record preferred

  • Able to lean into challenges and give 100% while at work
  • Minimum age of 21 years in order to meet the Company auto insurance requirements
Required Clearances
  • Must pass prehire and ongoing background checks and drug screen clearance
  • Pre-employment and ongoing physical and TB clearance required
Work Hours
  • 12-hour shifts, typically 6:50p-7a or 8a
  • Shifts can vary depending on role, shift, and operational needs
Physical Demands
  • With or without reasonable accommodation, the physical and mental requirements of this job may include the following: seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly. Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, frequent sitting, standing and walking, may be required for long periods of time and may involve climbing stairs, walking up inclines and on uneven terrain. Additional physical requirements may include, frequent lifting and or moving up to 50 pounds. Team members may be on their feet for various amounts of time during the course of their 12 hour shift. Emergencies may require sprinting and energy intensive movements to ensure resident safety.
$20 - $24 an hour
Compensation
- Wage range is $20 to o$24. Starting wage is dependent on experience and qualifications; overtime pay for hours worked over 40 per work week
