Job Summary

A leading local manufacturing company is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious 3rd Shift Material Handler to join our overnight team. In this role, you will be responsible for loading, unloading, and moving materials within or near our plant, yard, or work site during the overnight hours. You will ensure inventory accuracy and assist machine operators to maintain smooth warehouse operations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Material Movement: Open containers and load/unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or using power hoists.

  • Production Logistics: Read work orders or follow oral instructions from supervisors to convey materials to designated areas.

  • Record Keeping: Count, weigh, and record numbers of units handled on daily production sheets; recognize part numbers and maintain legible logs.

  • Labeling & Organization: Attach identifying tags/labels to materials or mark information clearly on boxes and containers.

  • Team Assistance: Stack or assemble materials into bundles, band them together, and clean work areas, machines, and equipment.

  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate industrial trucks or electric hoists to assist in moving materials.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Shift Availability: Must be fully available and reliable for overnight hours (11:45 PM – 8:00 AM, Monday through Friday).

  • Forklift Certification: Forklift experience/certification is preferred, but we will fully train and certify the right candidate in-house.

  • Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

  • Experience: 1 to 3 months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Communication: Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Bilingual skills are a plus.

  • Basic Math: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, and multiply/divide by 10s and 100s for weights and volumes.

  • Problem Solving: Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and safely climb ladders throughout the shift.

  • Must regularly lift/move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift/move up to 55 lbs.

  • Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color vision, and focus adjustment.

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing setting with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, occasional fumes, and a moderate noise level.
