Security Officer – High End Buildings

Location: New York, NY Job Type: Full-Time & Part-Time Schedule: Variable shifts | Days, Evenings, Overnight, Weekends | 7 Days per Week Pay Rate: $18.00- $22.00 per hour

Security Officer Position Overview – High End Property

Guardian Security Services is seeking professional Security Officers to support a commercial property in New York City. This is a client-facing role where officers help maintain the safety and security of the building while providing a professional presence for guests, and vendors.

The position is ideal for individuals who demonstrate sound judgment, strong communication skills, and a polished, professional demeanor appropriate for a residential environment.

Security Officers in this role play an important part in maintaining a safe, well-managed property while delivering courteous and attentive service to tenants and visitors.

Established in 1918, Guardian Service Industries is a fourth-generation family-owned company providing Security, Janitorial, Engineering, Pest Control, and Facility Support Services. We support more than 1,000 properties across the East Coast, New England, and Florida, including commercial buildings, residential communities, transportation hubs, schools, and government facilities.

Our Security Officers play an important role in maintaining safe, welcoming, and professionally managed environments for tenants, visitors, and building staff.

Security Officer Responsibilities

  1. Maintain a professional and welcoming presence for residents, guests, and vendors
  2. Monitor building access points and maintain awareness of building activity
  3. Conduct routine patrols of interior and exterior areas of the building
  4. Monitor surveillance cameras and building security systems
  5. Respond to emergencies and security concerns promptly and professionally
  6. Maintain accurate shift logs, incident reports, and daily activity reports
  7. Assist with package handling and vendor deliveries when required
  8. Maintain control and documentation of building and concierge keys
  9. Identify and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, or policy violations
  10. Coordinate with building management and property staff to support daily operations
  11. Enforce building policies while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor
  12. Maintain clear communication during shift transitions to ensure operational continuity

Security Officer Qualifications

  • Valid New York State Security Guard License
  • 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Certificate
  • 16-Hour On-the-Job Training Certificate
  • Prior experience in residential security, corporate security, concierge security, or customer-facing security roles preferred
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Professional appearance and polished demeanor
  • Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in high-pressure situations
  • Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods as required
