Job description

Territory Manager

Eden Prairie, MN (Minneapolis Metro)  |  Full-Time  |  Office & Field Based

About Us

Protective Industrial Polymers (PIP) is a family-owned manufacturer of high-performance polymer flooring, wall, and containment systems used in factories, food plants, labs, and high-tech facilities nationwide. Since 2008, we’ve grown by doing things differently: we’re a consultative, vendor-neutral manufacturer — we don’t install, and we don’t push product. We assess each facility’s real risks, recommend the right system through our industry-first Polymer System Report, and align the project with the best independent installer for the job. Our customers work with a partner, not just a vendor.

At PIP, you’re not just a number. You’re part of a close-knit team where your ideas matter, your effort is noticed, and your success is celebrated.

The Role

We’re hiring a Territory Manager to lead our Upper Midwest territory out of our Eden Prairie, MN office, covering Minnesota, central and western Wisconsin, Iowa, and the Dakotas. You’ll build on our existing customers while focusing primarily on developing new accounts — running site walks, building relationships with facility and maintenance leaders, and partnering with our network of specialized installing contractors.

This is not a cold-calling role. Our in-house Business Development team actively generates warm leads and sets appointments on your calendar, and additional opportunities flow in through our installer partners. Your job is to lead the territory: run great consultative meetings, scope projects, manage installer relationships, and close business.

You lead, but you’re never alone. You’ll work alongside an established business development team in the Eden Prairie office, with a 20-year industry veteran serving as your regional mentor — available to strategize, answer technical questions, and join you on key customer meetings while you build expertise. You’ll also work directly with our VP of Sales, especially in your first year.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and lead sales for the territory: Minnesota, central/western Wisconsin, Iowa, and the Dakotas
  • Run consultative site walks and facility assessments with end users (facilities, maintenance, engineering, and compliance leaders)
  • Convert warm leads and pre-set appointments from our business development team into scoped projects and closed business
  • Build and manage relationships with our independent installing contractor partners — a two-way pipeline of project work
  • Collaborate with your team on account follow-up so customers stay engaged 3, 6, and 12 months after each project
  • Travel within the territory, including moderate overnight travel (you’ll set your own road schedule — this is not a road-warrior role, but regular regional travel is part of the job)
  • Work from the Eden Prairie office when you’re not in the field — we operate as a team, in person

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of successful outside sales and/or account management experience
  • B2B sales background — building products, industrial, construction-adjacent, or commercial sales experience is a plus, but not required (we’ll teach you our industry)
  • Experience working with general contractors or familiarity with the commercial bid process is a bonus
  • A relationship-builder who is comfortable face-to-face, listens more than they talk, and closes with confidence
  • Self-motivated and accountable — you treat the territory like it’s yours, because it is
  • Team-oriented — you want to win with a team around you, not as a lone ranger
  • Comfortable with regular regional travel, including overnights
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience)

Compensation & Benefits

  • $90,000 base salary + uncapped commissions and bonuses — conservative first-year on-target earnings of $115K–$130K+
  • Clear growth path: top Territory Managers earn $200K+ as they develop their markets
  • Company-paid medical coverage — your salary is truly yours; plus dental, vision, HSA eligibility, 401(k) with match, and paid time off
  • Hands-on training at our Cleveland-area HQ, plus ongoing mentorship from a 20-year industry veteran

Why Join PIP?

  • Family-owned company where your voice matters and leadership knows your name
  • A differentiated, consultative sales model customers actually appreciate — you’re a trusted advisor, not a product pusher
  • Warm leads and appointments delivered by a dedicated business development team
  • A secure, growing industry — every industrial facility has a floor, and they all wear out
  • Real advancement opportunity as we expand our national footprint
