Job description

Position Summary

· JL Wesley is seeking an experienced Pipe Layer to join our site development team.

· This role is responsible for installing underground utilities including storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water lines on commercial construction projects.

· This is a hands-on position requiring strong field experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a crew environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Install underground piping systems including storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water mains

· Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and grade stakes

· Set pipe to proper line and grade using lasers and levels

· Assist with trench layout, bedding, and backfilling operations

· Work closely with equipment operators

· Ensure proper pipe alignment, jointing, and sealing

· Install structures such as manholes, catch basins, and hydrants

· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site

· Follow all OSHA and company safety standards

Qualifications

· Minimum 2+ years of experience laying pipe for underground utilities

· Experience with storm, sanitary, and water systems

· Ability to read and understand construction drawings and grade stakes

· Experience working around heavy equipment and active job sites

· Strong work ethic and reliability

· Ability to work in all weather conditions

Travel Requirements

· Travel required for projects across Indiana and Ohio

· Per diem provided for qualifying travel days

· Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on job location

Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly

· Ability to work in trenches, uneven terrain, and confined spaces

· Capable of standing, bending, kneeling, and working long hours
