TheJudaic Studies program at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia,is recruiting a pool of qualified individuals for possible part-time Visting Scholar positions.Visiting scholars should be experts in their field and present topics of interest in Judaic Studies. Proposals should include a series of public lectures (minimum of two) and give examples of classes in which they could guest lecture, and/or research they would conduct during their stay. Visiting scholars may be eligible to serve as adjunct faculty in Judaic Studies during their appointment. Interested candidates must be vetted for adjunct teaching separately by applying to the adjunct lecturer of Judaic Studies adjunct pool.
This pool will remain open to addressadditionalneeds that may arise throughoutthe year.Yourapplicationwill remain active as long as the pool position is available but no more than one year.After one year, if you are still interested, you must reapply to the most currentvisiting scholaradvertisement.

A graduate degree in Religion, Judaic Studies, or a related field (e.g.law, history, literature, anthropology etc.) isrequiredat the time the candidate begins the appointment.

This is a restrictedpositioncontingent upon the continued availability of funding.
This isa part-time positionrestricted to the termtowhich it is assigned andhired andis not eligible for benefits.
The position may requireadditionalhours beyond the typical work week, including occasional evenings, weekends, or overnight work as needed to meet operational requirements.
As part-time exempt employees,visiting scholarsare subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program. Total hours worked may not exceed an average of 29 hours per week over a twelve-month period beginning May 1 each year.
Total work hours for part-time employment from May 1 through April 30 may not exceed1,500 hours,generallyequatingto up to 14 credit hours for fall/spring and up to 6 for summer, not to exceed 18 credit hours for the year.
Visiting Scholars within the College of Arts & Sciences at William & Mary mustmaintainan in-person presence for the duration of their appointment.Remote opportunities are rare and subject to approval.
