Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Endoscopy RN with at least 2 years of GI/Endo experience and a South Carolina or compact RN license for a 13-week assignment in an acute care hospital.

Details
  • Endoscopy unit within an acute care hospital, including inpatient, outpatient endoscopy center, and portable/bedside travel cases
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Day shift, 5x8 hours, 6:00a-2:30pm
  • Weekend requirement every third weekend
  • On-call requirement approximately every third weekend (Friday 3pm - Monday 6am) plus some weekday call after 3pm, shared with two full-time Endo RNs
  • Must remain within 30 minutes of the facility or stay on-site during call hours
  • No floating required
  • Epic EMR used
Requirements
  • Active SC RN license or Compact license required in hand prior to start
  • BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA certifications only)
  • Minimum 2 years of Endoscopy experience required
  • Prior travel experience preferred, with a preference for experienced Endo RN travelers
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Skilled in administering and monitoring conscious sedation, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, airway management, and post-procedure recovery care
  • Experience with Provation, specimen handling/labeling, EKG/ECG, and IV starts and maintenance
  • Familiarity with equipment such as balloon dilators, bronchoscopy carts/supplies, electrosurgical units, ERBE units, forceps, foreign body equipment, lithotripters, and polyp snares
  • Experience with procedures including bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, esophageal varices/banding, EUS, and EBUS preferred
  • Medication administration experience with opioid analgesics, reversal agents, and Versed
  • Driver's license and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Responsibilities include circulating and scrubbing for GI/Endo procedures and providing pre- and post-procedure patient care
  • Works alongside two full-time Endo RNs who share on-call responsibilities
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Facility may cancel up to one shift per two weeks
  • Block scheduling requests may be considered but are not guaranteed
  • First-time travelers not accepted for this role
  • Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis at a reduced rate; non-local candidates are prioritized within the 60-mile radius rule
  • All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for consideration
  • Employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties during hurricane season (June-November, peak August-September)
