Job description

Warfel Construction Company is currently searching for an experienced Safety Engineer to join our high - paced, Client - focused, team, based in East Petersburg, PA. The Safety Engineer is expected to exhibit appropriate safety knowledge, and be able to apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of their environmental, health, and safety training.
Requirements
  • Work directly with field supervisors, project management team members, operations department and safety department to promote personal ownership of safety, share successes, and identify areas of opportunity
  • Proactively seek and work to resolve potential safety issues relating to employees, subcontractors, clients, and projects.
  • Conduct inspections following Warfel's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and protocols
  • Stay current with industry safety standards; communicate accordingly throughout the organization
  • Distribute and communicate inspection reports internally and to associated trade contractors, ensuring proper corrective actions are applied
  • Actively promote and encourage safe work practices
  • Coordinate and/or conduct safety training for Warfel employees
  • Document, lead (as necessary) and participate in accident investigations; perform root cause analysis, and recommend preventive actions
  • Assist and advise project teams to ensure subcontractors adhere to safety plans.
  • Participating in Safety Committee meetings with Warfel employees
  • Participate in preinstallation and regular subcontractor coordination meetings
  • Prepare for, respond accordingly, and follow-up as required to all OSHA inspections
  • Provide insight and recommendations based on observations and experience for program improvement
  • Provide consistent coaching on safe work habits and decision making
  • Identify risks associated with tasks to be performed by front line staff; support planning for safety associated with each task.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health, Safety Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may also apply
  • Minimum of 2 - 3 years construction-related safety experience
  • Ability to exercise discretion with confidential and sensitive information
  • Innovative and technologically inclined with computers, tablets, mobile phones, and other construction-specific software / tools
  • Flexibility to work longer days and on weekends, as workload may require
  • Must have a valid drivers license and ability to safely operate moving vehicles. Travel to jobsites is required.
  • Occasion overnight travel may be required.
  • Ability to navigate an active construction site, including uneven terrain, exposure to elements, navigate multi-level structures, and ascend and descend ladders or scaffolding.
  • Occasional need to lift or move up to 20 lbs within an office/field environment.
