Job description

Animal Specialty Centeris a premier provider of veterinary specialty services, including emergency and critical care, surgery, internal medicine, physical rehabilitation, medical and radiation oncology. Staffed with board-certified specialists and emergency veterinarians, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, our hospital serves thousands of pet owners each year. Our Dispensary Assistants utilize a team-based approach to provide a wide range of activities that support our hospital.


Essential Responsibilities and tasks:


  • Ordering supplies and medication
  • Overseeing the usage of controlled substances via weekly, monthly and quarterly audits
  • Ensuring our hospital is within DEA compliance
  • Budgeting and evaluating ordering supplies
  • Ensuring excellent vendor relationships
  • Complete dispensary checklists
  • Other job duties as assigned
  • Fill medications and prescriptions
  • Cycle counts/ / Audits via Quarterly inventory counts
  • Waste handling / Drugs / Hazardous materials


Qualifications:


  • Ability to work in a busy hospital environment
  • Demonstrate calm demeanor
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • General knowledge of DEA and controlled substance compliance is a plus
  • Licensed pharmacy tech desired but not required
  • Basic Excel knowledge
  • Phone / Email etiquette
  • Inventory background (Lifting boxes 25lbs-50lbs)
  • Organization skills
  • Knowledge of Cubex (Not required)
