As an Overnight RN supporting our Long-Term Care Unit in Toms River, you'll care for children with complex medical and rehabilitative needs while partnering closely with families and an interdisciplinary care team. As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

  • Providing comprehensive nursing assessments and utilizing the nursing process to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care for pediatric long-term care patients
  • Delivering compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to children with complex medical, developmental, and rehabilitative needs during the overnight shift
  • Collaborating with physicians, therapists, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
  • Monitoring patients for changes in condition, communicating clinical updates, and responding promptly to emergent situations using sound clinical judgment
  • Educating patients and families on treatments, medications, rehabilitation goals, and ongoing care to promote confidence and continuity following discharge or transition of care
  • Delegating appropriate responsibilities to LPNs and nursing assistants while supporting teamwork and maintaining high standards of patient care
  • Promoting continuity of care through accurate documentation and effective communication with the interdisciplinary team and nursing leadership
  • Serving as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing assistants, nurse externs, students, and newly hired staff while fostering a collaborative learning environment
  • Assuming relief Charge Nurse responsibilities as needed, supporting unit operations and assisting with patient flow and staffing coordination
  • Creating a safe, respectful, and family-centered environment that recognizes the unique physical, emotional, developmental, cultural, and psychosocial needs of every child

To be considered for this Registered Nurse opportunity, you must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification is required, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is preferred or must be obtained within one year of hire for inpatient nurses. Pediatric and/or rehabilitation nursing experience is preferred, although new graduate nurses are encouraged to apply for full-time opportunities. Candidates should possess excellent communication, teamwork, and clinical assessment skills, along with a passion for providing exceptional pediatric rehabilitative care. This position follows an overnight schedule of 11:00 PM to 11:00 AM, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families while working alongside an expert pediatric rehabilitation team.
