Overview
Shipping and Receiving Specialist- Bedford, MA (FT)
The IST Shipping and Receiving Specialist performs daily activities in both Office Services and the Shipping/Receiving department at our client's location as a direct employee of IST. Other outsourced client services on the site include, but are not limited to, business support services, office services, mail, copy, print, and records management, at a client site in Bedford, MA.
The Shipping and Receiving Department is located in a warehouse building, on the client campus location. Cross training will occur in the main building, in the Office Services department. There are opportunities for advancement both within this location, as well as other locations IST manages across the Boston Market.

Hours: Day shift, 8 hours, Monday through Friday
Compensation: While the compensation for this position is finally dependent upon the candidate's experience/qualifications, the approximate compensation for this position will be $19.00-21.00 to be paid hourly.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities include:
  • Reports directly to an IST Manager
  • Will learn a variety of skills, including printing/copying, mail delivery, inbound/outbound package processing, customer service training, email composition training, and many other relevant skills
  • Performs overnight carrier operations (FedEx/UPS/DHL/etc.) activities including the sorting and delivery of incoming packages, as well as the preparation and sending of outgoing packages
    • Responsible for entering in receipts of items required into Oracle or similar property management software
    • Performs shipping and receiving dock functions including accountability for the clients property department
    • Responsible for the easy retrieval and referencing of needed information on a timely basis
  • Promotes high motivation and customer satisfaction
    • Maintains efficient workflow and is accountable for quality and efficiency of their work
    • Maintain effective written and oral communications with clients, managers, and peers
    • Prioritize work as required to ensure customer needs are met in regards to on-time delivery of services and quality of work
  • Insures maximization of productivity through efficient use of standard operating procedures
  • Develops new procedures to improve the operation of the sites and to lower operating costs
  • Completes other tasks as assigned

Qualifications
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 1-2 years of experience in a shipping and receiving environment; Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and familiarity with computer basics is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written with customers and other employees both one-on-one and during meetings; Must have attention to detail and critically think through and resolve problems
  • Must have customer service skills and be able to maintain a consistent, high level of service; Must have ability to multi-task, manage multiple accounts and establish priorities
  • A valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation to and from work
  • Lifting up to 55 pounds; Standing for long periods of time; Significant walking; Willingness to cross-train for other job functions
  • The ability to obtain a US Government Secret Clearance within the first few months of employment with IST
