Job description

Find your calling at Mercy! Performs polysomnographic sleep studies on pediatric and adult patients, including equipment setup, patient preparation, overnight monitoring, and test scoring. Demonstrates knowledge of CPAP, BiPAP, and oxygen delivery, monitors patient response, completes accurate documentation, and collaborates with physicians interpreting sleep studies. Ensures safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment while following all safety, infection control, and quality standards. Position Details:

Overview:

Responsible for performing overnight sleep studies on pediatric and adult patients. Responsibilities include equipment setup, patient preparation, and subsequent overnight monitoring. Implementation of hospital and departmental safety, infection control, and quality assurance measures are required. Performs related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications: CPR certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or complete a CPR course to acquire CPR certification from the AHA within probation period. maintain AHA active CPR certification during employment. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist certification.
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Following completion of PSG Technician training checklist requirements, the PSG Tech must possess sufficient demonstrable technical knowledge and acquired competencies to work with intermittent supervision.
  • Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Persons working in this position may be required to work alternate shifts (ex: nightshifts for sleep studies, dayshifts for MSLTs, etc.).
  • Equipment Used: Polysomnographic recording instrumentation, PCs, accessory equipment.
  • Preferred Education: Additional college level biological science coursework preferred.
  • Preferred Licensure: Preferred Experience: Health care work experience beneficial.
