Position Overview

The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing hotel operations during overnight hours while ensuring exceptional guest service, accurate financial reporting, and smooth front desk operations. This role combines front desk responsibilities with accounting and auditing functions, including reconciling daily transactions, preparing financial reports, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for guests. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced hospitality setting.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Services

  • Greet, check in, and check out guests in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Respond promptly to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns, resolving issues to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Process reservations, room changes, and cancellations in accordance with hotel policies.
  • Provide information regarding hotel amenities, services, and local attractions.
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service during overnight hours.

Night Audit & Financial Duties

  • Perform the nightly audit process and reconcile all daily hotel transactions.
  • Verify and balance room revenue, cash receipts, credit card transactions, and other financial records.
  • Generate and distribute daily financial, occupancy, and revenue reports.
  • Investigate and correct discrepancies in guest accounts and financial transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.

Front Desk Operations

  • Maintain accurate guest records and update information in the property management system (PMS).
  • Process payments, refunds, and adjustments as needed.
  • Handle cash, credit card transactions, and end-of-shift balancing procedures.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and management teams regarding overnight activities and guest needs.

Safety & Security

  • Monitor hotel premises and follow established safety, security, and emergency procedures.
  • Conduct routine property walks and report maintenance or security concerns.
  • Assist with emergency situations and ensure proper documentation of incidents.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and hotel records.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of customer service, front desk, hospitality, or related experience preferred.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
