Job description

Summary:

Work with store owners, directors, and managers to grow same store sales.  Educate the retailer on AWG programs and how to use them. Implement department initiatives that help the Fresh Sales department achieve budgeted sales.  Assist with new store layouts, resets, and special event promotions.   

Essential Functions:

  • Build and maintain working relationships with store owners, directors, and store personnel through regular store calls to effectively serve as a business partner

  • Work with the procurement department and stores to implement special sales events 

  • Assist stores with the execution of the events to drive same store sales

  • Assist Fresh Sales Manager in putting together department initiatives and a sales plan to achieve budgeted sales

Important Functions:

  • Assist stores with resets, remodels, store tagging, and ad writing to achieve effective merchandising and image in the market

  • Work with the customers who are having issues with department sales, and/or profits to implement a plan for improvement as well as assist with the training of new employees 

Qualifications:

Any combination of education, training and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of the retail business

  • Strong background in Meat/Seafood.  Some experience in Produce and/or Deli will be helpful

  • Microsoft Office Skills

Abilities:

  • Must be a strong communicator in order to be able to build strong relationships with vendors/retailers

Experience, Education and Training:

  • High School education or equivalent

  • 5 Years retail Produce, Meat, Deli or Bakery experience 

Physical Requirements:

  • Perform bending, squatting, sitting, and reaching from floor level to six feet in height

  • Must be able to move throughout various buildings, conduct training at retail sites, load and unload materials and equipment

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds and move tables as needed

  • Must be able to sit in a car for long periods of time

  • Must be able to drive both day and at night

Working Environment:

  • Standard office/store environment

  • Frequent overnight travel

  • Must be able to work non-traditional hours as needed (before and after normal office hours and weekends)
