Job description

Responsible for assisting with the organization and supervision of racing department.  Help develop racing programs to maximize pari-mutuel handle.  Promote Harrah's Chester racing throughout industry. 

 

Minimum three years (harness) racing office experience with a four-year degree or equivalent work experience. Valid PA Harness Commission license or ability to receive license.  If required, valid PA Gaming license or ability to receive license pending regulatory development.    Managerial, organizational and administrative skills. Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communications skills required.  Strong leadership and customer relations skills.  Proven ability to build and manage relationships with trainers, owners and breeders.  Solid understanding of the pari-mutuel customer's motivations.

Is able to work in smoke filled environment, and is able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time. 

Must be able to obtain a Harness license through the state of Pennsylvania.

Responsible for verifying eligibility of horses.  Interface with PHHA, PA Sires Stakes program and PA Harness Commission.  Compile and organize stakes and overnight programs. Assist with oversight of entries, claims and all other facets of racing program.  Ensures compliance with PA Harness Racing Commission regulations and other gaming regulations as required.  Ensures adherence to departmental/company policies and procedures. Reviews and recommends policy changes to the Racing Secretary.  Implements the departmental internal controls and security.  Represents Harrah's Racetrack to constituents including PA Harness Racing Commission, horsemen, PA Sires Stakes, PHHA, USTA et al. Implements strategies and operating plans that will heighten the guest experience and improve
