Overnight Golf Course Server information

What are some typical challenges faced by overnight golf course servers, and how can they prepare for them?

Overnight golf course servers often work during less traditional hours, which can present challenges such as managing fatigue and adapting to a quieter yet occasionally fast-paced environment. Additionally, they may encounter unique guest requests and must be prepared to work independently or with a smaller team. To succeed, it's important to develop strong time-management skills, maintain clear communication with kitchen and maintenance staff, and stay proactive in anticipating guests' needs during overnight events or functions.

What is the difference between Overnight Golf Course Server vs Daytime Golf Course Server?

AspectOvernight Golf Course ServerDaytime Golf Course Server

CredentialsSame as daytime servers, often no special certifications requiredSame as overnight servers, with emphasis on customer service skills

Overnight Golf Course Servers work during late hours, focusing on maintaining service in quieter conditions, while Daytime Golf Course Servers handle peak hours with more customer interaction. Both roles require similar skills and certifications but differ mainly in work hours and environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an overnight golf course server?

To thrive as an Overnight Golf Course Server, you need customer service expertise, basic food and beverage knowledge, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash handling, and compliance with food safety standards (such as ServSafe certification) is typically required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently during overnight hours are crucial soft skills. These abilities ensure efficient service, guest satisfaction, and smooth operations during less supervised shifts.

What is an overnight golf course server?

Overnight Golf Course Servers are hospitality professionals who work late-night or early-morning shifts at golf course facilities, typically serving food and beverages to guests during special events, tournaments, or late-night operations. Job description

Back ServerSeasonal

The Glenbrook Club is currently seeking candidates for seasonal Back Server positions. A Back Server should assist servers in providing an exceptional dining experience for our members and their guests. The Back Server is the backbone of the team, in that they provide a lot of support within all service areas. We believe that an amazing personality and can-do attitude can help overcome any lack of experience as we will train the right candidate!

The Glenbrook Club is a private club located on Lake Tahoe’s beautiful east shore in Glenbrook, Nevada. Club members and their guests enjoy a unique nine-hole golf course, Golf Shop and Clubhouse. The Glenbrook Club was established in 1926 as the first golf course in Nevada and has bene private since 1998. The course offers both beauty & challenge and has been listed by Golf Digest as one of the world’s most enjoyable nine-hole courses. Rounds producing the best score require accurate shot making, as golf great Ben Hogan noted while playing his 1948 exhibition on our course. In total, five Masters Champions have graced Glenbrook’s fairways through the years.

Hourly wages for seasonal Back Server positions start at $16/hour plus tips. Our seasonal Back Server positions will start mid-May through September and we offer flexible schedules.

Position Requirements
  • Positive attitude, attention to detail, ability to anticipate the guests needs and great communication skills.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
  • Previous experience preferred but not required.
