What is an overnight golf course marshal?

Overnight Golf Course Marshals are staff members responsible for monitoring the golf course during nighttime hours. Their main duties include ensuring course security, protecting property from vandalism or theft, and sometimes overseeing maintenance activities that occur overnight. They may also respond to emergencies, enforce course rules, and provide assistance to any authorized personnel on site after hours. This role helps maintain the safety and integrity of the golf course when it is not in use by the public.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be an overnight golf course marshal?

To thrive as an Overnight Golf Course Marshal, you need knowledge of golf course operations, a keen attention to detail, and familiarity with basic security protocols, often supported by prior experience in hospitality or security roles. Use of radio communication devices, incident reporting systems, and sometimes surveillance equipment is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, conflict resolution abilities, and reliability help you interact effectively with patrons and staff, and respond calmly to issues. These skills ensure the safety, order, and smooth operation of the golf course during overnight hours.

What challenges do overnight golf course marshals face and how can they prepare for them?
