Job description

KERAMIDA is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Environmental Engineer/Scientist – Project Manager for our EHS Compliance team. This is a mid-level position with a clear professional progression: individuals typically advance to Senior Project Manager after showcasing technical expertise, project management acumen, and strong client rapport. You will work with clients and KERAMIDA colleagues on a broad range of multimedia compliance projects spanning air quality, stormwater, wastewater, and solid and hazardous waste. You will review deliverables for technical accuracy, manage project budgets and schedules, maintain and grow existing client relationships, pursue new ones, and mentor junior staff as they build their own compliance expertise. This fast-paced work environment offers exposure to diverse and unique opportunities in the environmental compliance and sustainability field. KERAMIDA offers excellent benefits and a competitive compensation program that rewards performance and results. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project budgets and schedules, develop proposals, and communicate with clients.
  • Maintain ongoing client relationships and clear, constant communication with clients regarding their compliance obligations.
  • Interpret regulations and manage compliance for multiple clients across multiple environmental media and regulatory programs.
  • Conduct on-site visits at industrial client facilities to understand compliance needs and verify compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, including comprehensive compliance audits and gap assessments.
  • Prepare air, water, and waste permit applications, written plans and programs, and overall compliance documentation.
  • Review work produced by junior staff and manage overall regulatory, client, and schedule requirements.
  • Stay current on developments in environmental regulation, science, and sustainability practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental/civil engineering, or a related field

Required Skills

  • Critical thinking and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory and technical documents
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Competence in core Microsoft Office software
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of staff and client organizations
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history
  • Willingness to travel overnight, typically less than 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of environmental compliance experience, including project and client management
  • PE, CHMM, CPEA, QEP, or other relevant credential (s)
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior technical staff
  • Experience developing proposals and growing existing client accounts

Physical and Field Requirements

This position combines office-based work — permitting, plan and report development, data analysis, and reporting — with regular field work at client sites. The requirements below apply during field assignments, which vary by project and season.

  • Able to conduct facility walkthroughs and field observations, including climbing stairs and ladders and working outdoors in varying weather
  • Able to wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection
  • Able to lift and carry field equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Eligible for respirator fit testing and medical clearance where site conditions require it
  • Overnight travel typically less than 10%, plus regular local day travel to client sites

Pay range and compensation package

Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.
