Job description

Actively seeking Red Card qualified (FFT2), Nationally Registered (preferred not required), EMT-Basic for contracted rapid deployment to wildland fire incidents with EMS agency in Boise, Idaho. Rapid deployment is defined as 24 hours or less activation with priority to the Northwest Region (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, California), but with possible deployment to wildland fire incidents outside of the region as needed.

Qualifications: (DO NOT APPLY IF NOT QUALIFIED)

  • Current Red Card Qualifications Met/Completed for 2026, prior to deployment
  • Arduous Pack Test completion for 2026 calendar year, prior to deployment
  • Experienced Fireline EMT: RT-130 refresher 2026 calendar year, prior to deployment
  • First Year Fireline EMT MUST HAVE COMPLETED: S-130 with field day (S-131), S-190, L-180 (proof of completion)
  • Current Idaho state EMS license (EMT) in good standing (Out of state EMT license considered, case dependent)
  • Current National Registry EMS certification (Preferred)
  • 911 experience required (3-5 years preferred) or will consider previous Wildland Fire EMT experience (minimum 1 WF season)
  • ICS 100 and 700
  • Must be in good physical condition
  • Accustomed to working in an austere environment
  • Wildland fire certifications/experience preferred but training can be attained for qualified providers
  • Good driving record
  • Must provide 3 references (At least 2 professional & 1 personal)

Skills:
- Proficient in first aid techniques.
- Knowledge of basic and advanced life support procedures.
- Ability to accurately assess and monitor vital signs.
- Mechanical aptitude for handling medical equipment.
- Valid driver's license for operating emergency vehicles.
- Capable of lifting heavy loads safely.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).

Job Type: Seasonal/Temporary with possible extension of more permanent work (not guaranteed)

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement)
  • Completion of EMT program (able to be verified)

License/Certification:

  • State EMT License (Idaho Preferred)
  • NREMT License (Preferred)
  • BLS
  • Driver's License in good standing from current state of residence
