Job Roles and Responsibilities
Produce 2D AutoCAD shop and assembly drawings for curtain walls, storefronts, entrances, and window systems.
Prepare comprehensive fabrication drawings, material takeoffs (cut lists, hardware schedules), and submittal packages.
Interpret complex architectural/structural documents and specifications, identifying potential design conflicts and proposing viable solutions.
Proactively interface with Project Managers and field leaders to ensure constructability, proper anchorage, and logical installation sequencing.
Maintain strict revision control and drawing logs, incorporating updates from RFIs and review comments.
Facilitate as-built updates, closeout documentation, and (where applicable) create CNC-ready outputs for saws, punches, or routers to streamline production.
Qualifications and Certifications
Minimum of 2 years in CAD drafting and 2 years specifically within the glass and glazing industry.
Advanced 2D AutoCAD skills and a high level of competency in reading/interpreting construction documents.
Deep understanding of detailing for fasteners, anchors, sealants, and glazing gaskets, with a strong focus on tolerance and fit.
An Associate Degree in Drafting/Design Technology or a related certificate is preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
Strong 3D spatial reasoning and the ability to communicate technical requirements clearly to diverse teams.
Familiarity with curtain wall systems (e.g., Kawneer/Oldcastle), Bluebeam, Smartsheets, or BIM/Revit is a plus.
