Job description


The Overnight Custodial Zone Manager will assume ownership for contracted services at a building or campus and will lead operational and administrative activities while maintaining effective cost control measures. This position will oversee recruitment, safety, productivity, and quality of operations. The location of this role will be at George Washington University, located at 2025 F Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20052
Shift: Tuesday - Saturday from 10:00PM - 6:30AM EST
Annual Salary: $65,000 - $70,000 per year annual salary (U.S. Dollars)

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
• Establish and maintain strong client relationships with assigned account(s).
• Identify areas of opportunity and lead the team to implement process changes in a positive and effective manner.
• Promote a strong safety culture and safe work environment.
• Effectively recruit, manage, and lead a team of professional employees and supervisors with focus on continuous improvement.
• Motivate and develop the team while supporting organizational change.
• Ensure work assignments and schedules meet department, facility, and contractual needs; plan, develop, and assign work
schedules to ensure service delivery expectations are achieved.
• Perform daily quality control inspections to ensure quality standards are met or exceeded.
• Adapt departmental plans and priorities to adapt to operational challenges.
• Perform time studies to optimize operational tasks, schedules, and staff allocation.
• Look for opportunities to increase revenue by providing additional or periodic services to the client.
• Drive performance management in performance reviews, setting clear job expectations, coaching, and directing staff, and using disciplinary action when necessary.
• Special projects and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; degree in facilities management, hospitality, or a related field preferred.
  • Preferred 10 years of experience or more in custodial or janitorial services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Experience with custodial management software and tools.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to successfully complete all screenings requirements for ABM and the client.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Custodial Technician (CCT) or Cleaning Management Institute (CMI) preferred.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer literacy, specifically with Microsoft programs is a must.

Work Environment:
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and operating cleaning equipment.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
