Job Description
The AS/400 (IBM i) BPCS Analyst / Developer is responsible for supporting, enhancing, and evolving core finance, manufacturing and logistics systems with a strong focus on ERP BPCS, IBM i (AS/400), and related integrations. This role bridges business and IT by translating operational requirements into technical solutions while also performing hands-on development, system support, and application analysis.
The position supports ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, and accounting/financial operations, ensuring system stability, performance, and continuous improvement across enterprise platforms. The role includes Level 1-3 production support, development, reporting, and collaboration with cross-functional business and IT stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Gather, analyze, document, and validate business requirements across Finance, Manufacturing, Operations, Logistics, and IT.
  • Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications.
  • Partner with stakeholders to prioritize enhancements, resolve issues, and improve business processes.
  • Create documentation, process flows, and system requirements.
  • Serve as the liaison between business users and technical teams.

Application Development & System Support
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain RPGLE applications in the IBM i (AS/400) environment.
  • Provide Level 1-3 support for BPCS, AS/400, and related business applications.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance manufacturing, logistics, and finance systems.
  • Support core manufacturing functions including Shop Floor Control (SFC), Master Production Scheduling (MPS), and Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Provide support for warehouse management, purchasing, costing, billing, sales, and financial operations.
  • Participate in SAP migration and system integration initiatives as required.
  • Support and maintain APLG-based applications and enhancements where applicable.

BPCS, Reporting & Data Analytics
  • Provide functional and technical support for BPCS ERP modules.
  • Develop and maintain reports using SQL, SSRS, SSIS, and related reporting tools.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to support reporting and operational needs.
  • Deliver data analysis and reporting solutions to support business decision-making.

Integrations & Technical Support
  • Support and maintain integrations between BPCS and enterprise applications, including FX Currency Exchange, Coupa, Concur, Prisma, Quote System, BlackLine, PeopleSoft, Warrior, and other interfaces utilizing TIBCO.
  • Assist with Citrix application support, ASP.NET applications, and SQL Server environments.
  • Maintain system documentation and support ALDON change management processes as both a user and administrator.
  • Assist with SOX compliance activities, audit support, annual access reviews, and evidence collection.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement
  • Promote development standards, documentation practices, and quality controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, applications, and system performance.
  • Participate in project planning, testing, implementation, and post-production support.
  • Mentor junior analysts and developers as needed.
  • Support compliance, audit, and business continuity initiatives.

Education Requirements
  • College diploma or university degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field

Experience Requirements
  • Strong experience with IBM i / AS/400 environments
  • Hands-on development experience with RPGLE
  • In-depth knowledge of BPCS (enterprise resource planning systems) or ERP, Accounting/Finance)
  • Experience supporting manufacturing systems (SFC, MPS, MRP)
  • Working knowledge of:
    • SQL / SQL Server
    • VBA (reporting and automation)
    • ASP.NET
    • HTML5, CSS, JavaScript
    • MS Excel and MS Access
  • Experience with system integrations and interfaces
  • Familiarity with ALDON or similar management tools

Business & Analytical Skills
  • Strong business analysis and requirements-gathering experience
  • Ability to convert conceptual business needs into technical solutions
  • Experience supporting production systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • 3-5+ years of experience in an AS/400, BPCS, Finance & manufacturing ERP systems environment
