What does an overnight creative video editor do?

An Overnight Creative Video Editor is responsible for editing and assembling video footage during late-night or overnight hours to meet tight deadlines, often for news outlets, entertainment companies, or social media channels. They use editing software to cut, enhance, and add effects to videos, ensuring the final product is polished and engaging. Job description

Responsibilities

At Brasfield & Gorrie, our purpose is building exceptional people, trusting relationships, great projects, and strong communities. We are one of the most respected and dynamic general contractors in the nation, and we’re looking for a Video Editor.

The Video Editor works with marketing, communications, creative, and internal customers to turn raw footage into top quality finished video in support of marketing and communications efforts. The video editor will support a range of video needs, from executive communications, corporate initiatives, employee communications, highlight reels, technology/process demonstrations, marketing pursuits, informative videos, HR initiatives, and training.

If you work with us, you’ll be challenged and inspired, and you’ll be proud.

As a Video Editor you will:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and the production team to bring video concepts to fruition
  • Edit video from approved shot list, storyboard or script
  • Edit with an emphasis on storytelling, impact and engagement
  • Assemble interview, mini-doc, explainer, and highlight content from long-form footage, identifying the strongest soundbites and the narrative through line
  • Use music and sound effects in a way that enhances the story you are trying to tell
  • Mix and enhance audio — level dialogue, clean up production sound, and balance music beds for multiple delivery platforms
  • Color correct and grade footage to achieve a consistent, polished look across all deliverables
  • Design and animate motion graphics — titles, lower thirds, data visualization, and logo animation — that support or encompass video messaging
  • Build and maintain motion graphics templates that keep recurring series on brand and on schedule
  • Manage project timelines from rough cut through final delivery, incorporating feedback rounds efficiently
  • Research and understand industry and design trends
  • Create and maintain an organized project file structure
  • Ingest, back up, and manage media, including proxy workflows and archiving of completed projects
  • Catalogue and organize completed media to be accessible by the larger organization
  • Support creation of video assets and digital projects, such as company apps, website, intranet, and digital signage
  • Serve as a back-up for filming needs when necessary
  • Champion Brasfield & Gorrie company culture
