Position Summary

The Sedation Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for administering and monitoring sedation during PAE procedures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and optimal clinical outcomes. This role provides support before, during, and after procedures through patient assessment, monitoring, recovery collaboration, and procedural preparation.

Reporting directly to the Director of Clinical Operations and Clinical Leadership, the Sedation RN serves as a critical member of the Interventional Radiology team.

What You'll Do

Patient Sedation & Monitoring

  • Administer sedation medications under the direction of the Interventional Radiologist
  • Continuously monitor patient vital signs, airway status, and sedation response
  • Recognize and respond rapidly to adverse reactions, complications, and emergencies
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the EMR

Recovery & Clinical Support

  • Collaborate with Recovery Nurses to monitor patient recovery and discharge readiness
  • Support patient transitions before, during, and after procedures
  • Verify procedural and sedation consent documentation
  • Participate in daily clinical huddles and case reviews
  • Initiate BLS, ACLS, or emergency protocols when necessary

Procedure Room Preparation

  • Prepare sedation medications, supplies, and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and medication safety standards
  • Verify emergency and resuscitation equipment functionality before procedures

Inventory & Quality Management

  • Monitor nursing inventory and expiration dates
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Support compliance, safety, and regulatory standards

Team Collaboration

  • Partner with physicians, radiology technologists, nurses, and support staff
  • Provide mentorship and support to clinical team members
  • Contribute to a positive, patient-focused culture of excellence

Qualifications

Required

? Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

? Current Registered Nurse (RN) license

? Minimum 2 years of experience in:

  • Procedural Sedation
  • Critical Care
  • Perioperative Nursing

? Current BLS Certification

? Current ACLS Certification

? Strong knowledge of:

  • Sedation protocols
  • Patient monitoring
  • Airway management
  • Emergency interventions

Preferred

Experience in Interventional Radiology

Outpatient surgical or procedural care experience

Urology or Endoscopy Experience

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Bilingual (English/Spanish)
