Job description

PURPOSE:

One year lecturer of Computer Science.โ€‚โ€‚โ€‚

There will be an opportunity to transition this one-year appointment into a permanent tenure-track position at the end of the academic year. This will be based on the faculty member's performance and institutional need.

We seek candidates who are interested in student success while promoting and growing our programs. Candidates must be able to teach across the curriculum, but we particularly seek candidates with expertise and interest in teaching one or more of the following: ethics and technology, programming, systems development, cloud computing, and project management.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science and computer information systems.
  • Develop an active, externally funded research program to include undergraduate students.
  • Serve on departmental, college, and institutional committees.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Contribute to initiatives and programs within the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to teach a broad variety of related courses.
  • Knowledge of industry needs.
  • Skill and experience in emerging areas of computing.
  • Ability to teach a diverse student body.
  • Ability to engage with a diverse faculty body.

Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related area is required, ABDs considered.
  • Prior experience in engaging diverse undergraduate students is recommended/preferred.
  • Prior industry experience or postdoctoral experience is recommended/preferred, especially in areas of systems development and/or project management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
