Overnight Cleaning information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Overnight Cleaner, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Overnight Cleaner, you need knowledge of cleaning procedures, attention to detail, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with industrial cleaning equipment, chemical safety protocols, and time-tracking systems is typically required. Reliability, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently are critical soft skills for this position. These skills ensure a safe, sanitary environment and efficient operations during non-business hours.

What are some common challenges faced in an overnight cleaning role and how can they be managed effectively?

Working overnight as a cleaner often involves managing fatigue and maintaining motivation during non-traditional hours, especially when facilities are empty or quiet. Adapting to a reversed sleep schedule and staying alert are important, as is adhering to safety protocols when working independently. Many overnight cleaning positions require efficient time management to ensure all assigned areas are cleaned before the morning shift arrives. Building a routine, using proper equipment, and staying connected with your team through check-ins or handover notes can help address these challenges and ensure a smooth workflow.

What are overnight cleaning jobs?

Overnight cleaning jobs involve maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in commercial, industrial, or public spaces during nighttime hours, typically after regular business hours. Workers in these roles perform tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, and disinfecting surfaces to ensure the facility is clean and ready for the next day. These positions may be found in offices, schools, hospitals, hotels, or retail stores. Overnight cleaning jobs often require attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and sometimes the use of specialized cleaning equipment.

Both roles are essential in maintaining clean environments but differ mainly in timing, scope, and work environment.

Job description

EXTREME CLEANING, INC.

Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Technician

Port St. Lucie, FL | Sun–Thu Schedule | $20+/hr to Start

Work Hard. Go Home on Fridays.

Most people spend their weekends at work. Not here. Our technicians run a Sunday through Thursday schedule — which means your Fridays and Saturdays are yours. Pair that with flexible hours and you've got a full-time paycheck without sacrificing your life outside of work.

What You'll Do

  • Travel to commercial kitchens (restaurants, hotels, schools) and clean exhaust hood systems — hoods, filters, ductwork, and rooftop fans
  • Operate pressure washing equipment and specialty cleaning tools
  • Work alongside a crew and take pride in delivering a thorough, NFPA-standard clean
  • Drive a company vehicle; some overnight travel required

What We're Looking For

  • Reliable — show up, do the work, repeat
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
  • At least 18 years old
  • Able to climb ladders, work on rooftops, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Experience? Great. No experience? We'll train you — no problem.

What You Get

  • $20.00/hr to start — pay grows with your performance
  • Overtime pay
  • Bonus opportunities
  • Health insurance with optional dental & vision (full-time employees)
  • Paid time off
  • Year-round, stable work — no seasonal layoffs
