Job description

Specialist Expeditor

Location: Jamaica, NY, US, 11430 Orlando, FL, US, 32827 Fort Lauderdale, FL, US, 33315

Position Summary: The Specialist Expeditor is responsible for managing the repair lifecycle of aircraft tooling and aircraft support equipment through approved repair vendors. The role ensures repairs are completed within contractual turnaround times, at competitive cost, and in support of fleet operational requirements. The Specialist Expeditor monitors repair performance, manages repair quotations, coordinates loaners and exchanges, and drives continuous improvement in vendor performance while maintaining optimal tooling availability across the network.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensures aircraft tooling and aircraft support equipment are repaired by approved JetBlue business partners within agreed turnaround times
  • Monitors stock levels and ensures required items are prioritized for repair
  • Coordinates with Tooling Expeditors and Materials to ensure repair orders are processed and tooling is received in a timely manner
  • Communicates with business partners regarding the status of tooling sent for repair. For urgent orders, coordinates expedited shipping and tracks delivery through repair order completion
  • Reviews and approves repair cost quotations
  • Monitors repair turnaround performance and escalates overdue repairs to ensure contractual service levels are maintained
  • Identifies recurring repair shop performance issues, notifies management, and supports implementation of corrective action plans
  • Reviews and approves tooling exchange offers from repair vendors when appropriate in lieu of repair
  • Assists in the disposition of unserviceable tooling by coordinating repair, exchange, replacement, or scrap actions with Tooling and approved business partners
  • Helps minimize costs associated with tooling determined to be beyond economical repair
  • Provides repair cost and performance data to support sourcing activities and contract negotiations
  • Generates and analyzes weekly reports on open repair orders, turnaround time, overdue repairs, repair costs, and vendor performance in compliance with internal audit requirements

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Two (2) years of experience in aircraft maintenance, tooling, component repair, supply chain, or maintenance operations
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, organizational, and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • In possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (up to 20%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Aviation or Supply Chain, or a related field
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant
  • Experience coordinating aircraft tooling, aircraft support equipment, aircraft component repairs, vendor performance, warranty claims, or repair contract administration
  • Two (2) years of experience in aircraft tooling, aircraft support equipment, procurement, repair coordination, or other high-volume repair or purchasing environments
  • Two (2) years of inventory management experience
  • Experience with aircraft tooling repair management, calibration management, tool control, and repair contract administration
  • Familiarity with Maintenance and Engineering systems such as TRAX

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Work Environment: Traditional office environment Occasional work in materials warehouse and on aircraft during ground maintenance

Physical Effort: Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. (Light)

Compensation: The base pay range for this position is between $25.45 and $40.52 per hour. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
