Location: Remote (United States)
Job Type: Executive Leadership
Schedule: Initial Commitment of 3–10 Hours per Week
Expected Transition: Full-Time Executive Position
Expected Full-Time Salary: $130,000–$145,000 annually, based on experience and organizational funding.


Overview


RISE Foundation is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to help build and lead a growing national nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth and young adults through education, mentorship, leadership development, workforce readiness, and community engagement.

This is a unique opportunity for an executive leader who wants to help shape an organization from the ground up. During the startup phase, the COO will serve in a flexible leadership capacity requiring approximately 3–10 hours per week while helping establish the organization's operational infrastructure, executive leadership team, and strategic priorities.


As the organization grows and funding milestones are achieved, the role is expected to transition into a full-time executive position.


Position Summary:


Reporting directly to the Founder & Chairman of the Board, the Chief Operating Officer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of RISE Foundation while ensuring the organization's mission, strategic initiatives, and programs are executed effectively.


The COO serves as the organization's operational leader, working closely with executive leadership to build scalable systems, improve organizational performance, and prepare RISE Foundation for long-term growth.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Oversee the organization's daily operations and administrative functions.
  • Execute strategic initiatives approved by executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Develop operational policies, procedures, and organizational systems.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration among executive departments.
  • Establish measurable performance goals and organizational KPIs.
  • Improve organizational efficiency through process development and continuous improvement.
  • Support organizational growth, expansion, and strategic planning.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to executive directors and department leaders.
  • Prepare operational reports for executive leadership and the Board.
  • Identify organizational risks and recommend solutions.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and excellence.
  • Represent RISE Foundation with community partners, stakeholders, and strategic collaborators as needed.

Qualifications


Required


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of progressive leadership or executive management experience.
  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams and organizational operations.
  • Ability to think strategically while executing operational priorities.
  • Passion for youth development, education, and community impact.

Preferred

  • Master's degree (MBA, MPA, MPH, or related field).
  • Experience within nonprofit organizations, education, healthcare, or public service.
  • Experience scaling organizations or leading operational growth.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit governance and Board relations.

Compensation


During the organization's startup phase, this position requires approximately 3–10 hours per week with a flexible schedule.


As operational needs expand and organizational funding milestones are achieved, this role is expected to transition into a full-time executive leadership position with an anticipated salary of $130,000–$145,000 annually, based on qualifications, experience, organizational needs, and Board approval.
