Oncology Sales Consultant, Prostate - Richmond, VA
PURPOSE
Responsible for driving the clinical demand, education, and sale of Nubeqa and Xofigo to medical oncologists, urologists, radiation oncologists, including mid-level healthcare professionals (NPs/PAs) within Oncology specialty within institutions (academic and community hospitals) including cancer centers, free-standing community clinics and treatment centers.
The span of coverage will be Richmond, Petersburg, Harrisonburg & Fredericksburg, VA & Washington DC. Travel up to 50% within the territory. The candidate must be domiciled within the territory.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Oncology Sales Consultant - Prostate, are:
  • Demonstrate competency of product clinical efficacy and articulate a strong value proposition for the customer;
  • Learn and retain in-depth clinical knowledge of numerous tumor types with the goal of educating Healthcare Professionals on the important benefits of Bayer medications;
  • Invest time building key office relationships & soliciting customer inputs to ensure account needs are being met;
  • Positively influence accounts by meeting customer needs/preferences, understanding their goals/priorities, and tailoring messaging that addresses their needs;
  • Actively strive to deliver sales goals by exploring growth opportunities, removing customer barriers, & reshaping sales strategy based upon what is working and not working;
  • Review sales data, assesses trends, and adjusts sales strategy based upon insights;
  • Leverage available resources, market data, and sales experience to prepare for account conversations, while keeping customer needs top of mind;
  • Take proactive steps to address account/marketplace uncertainties by focusing on big picture themes, maintaining a flexible mindset, and leveraging peers/colleagues to gain appropriate business perspective;
  • Proactively build networks and connections by involving appropriate cross functional stakeholders & listening to/building upon the ideas of others to establish best practices;
  • Resourceful in adopting emerging/enabling technologies. Leverage new technologies to increase performance, while working to gain proficiency to achieve desired results;
  • Commit to learning agility by reflecting on past experiences, gaining key insights from peers, and learning from previous mistakes/failures;
  • Target, develop, assess, and maintain a thorough understanding of accounts and key customers while maintaining a high-level stakeholder position;
  • Apply strategic thinking while developing and maintaining key customer database;
  • Demonstrate competency with key account management, best practices, and selling skills;
  • Liaise with other Bayer personnel to provide patient and reimbursement support while exceeding sales goal;
  • Develop of business plans aligned to strategic brand imperatives with resource allocations that link to strong business results. Demonstrate competent knowledge and analysis of business, products, technical issues, and the changing market landscape;
  • Be patient focused with the ability to build and foster strong positive relationships with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders;
  • Display strong collaboration and teamwork skills with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Institutional sales approach: develop a long-term plan to activate an account via the various gatekeepers/influencers;
  • Adhere to company and compliance guidelines, policies, and procedures;

WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Relevant specialty pharmaceutical sales, biotech sales, or medical sales experience;
  • Experience with selling a product in combination with a companion diagnostic;
  • Excellent negotiation skills;
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record;
  • Ability to travel as necessary or required, which may include overnight and/or weekend travel;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong cross functional collaboration skills;
  • Passionate and self-motivated individual;
  • Ability to comply with any customer credentialing and safety requirements (eg, up-to-date vaccinations, trainings);
  • As a condition of employment, newly hired employees may be subject to further credentialing;

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Degree in biological science or related discipline;
  • Bachelor's degree or 10 years of relevant sales experience in competitive landscapes in lieu of a Bachelor's degree;
  • Specialty experience in Oncology AND Urology strongly preferred;
  • Specialty experience in Cardiovascular, Diabetes Care, Endocrinology, or Diagnostics experience;
  • Strong clinical expertise in various tumor types (Prostate, CRC, Lung, GIST, Sarcoma, Niche Tumors, etc);
  • Experience in launching new products and/or indications;
  • Diagnostic and/or experience selling diagnostic or genomic testing;
  • Academic institution or large oncology account selling and relationships;
  • Familiarity with immunohistochemistry or next generation sequencing;
  • Scientific background and understanding of clinical trials.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $143,200.00 - $214,800.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.
This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
