Job description

Athletic Field Maintenance

The Athletic Field Maintenance/Groundskeeper functions as an overseer of the stadium facility assisting in any task pertaining to general maintenance and upkeep.

All employees of SISD are expected to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate in a clear and respectful manner, championing the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid Texas driver's license

Preferred:

  • One year groundkeeper experience

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to perform job without normal supervision
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Knowledge of power tools such as power washer, lawn mower, edger, trimmers, blower and hand tools
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance and preventative maintenance on tools used
  • Physical requirements good distance vision in both eyes, ability to lift and carry items weighing 100 lbs.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Sets up game and practice fields for practices; special events; gameday field preparation, and field equipment placement as appropriate.
  • Operates and maintains grounds equipment, to include mowers, spreaders, sprayers, trimmers, and painting equipment used for athletic fields.
  • Performs general maintenance and trash removal tasks on athletic fields, as appropriate.
  • Opens and closes facility during all activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Occasionally may be required to work evenings preparing for, and during, some sporting events.

Working Conditions:

Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and around moving objects or vehicles. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, (herbicides and fertilizer), and loud noises. Frequent district wide travel.
