Job description

Garver is seeking to add a Facilities Assessor to conduct BUILDER SMS inventories and assessments to help our defense clients remain mission ready.
The Federal Business Line is looking for a Facilities Assessor to join its growing team in Asset Management for its clients. Currently, the Federal Business Line uses BUILDER SMS for the majority of its clients. BUILDER SMS is an online database that comprises complexes, site, and buildings and their respective building components. These components are made of items in Architecture, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, and Fire Protection. Federal completes field investigations at each site location assessing the buildings and then inputting and upkeeping the collected data within the BUILDER SMS databases for each client.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to become certified in BUILDER SMS within 6 months of hire date
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 30%
  • Understand a project work plan and execute based on a client’s requirements
  • Ability to assess multiple buildings within large complexes in a timely and detailed manner
  • Ability to conduct services by abiding by safety precautions
  • Able to produce quality work with minimal oversight
  • Proficient in written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements
  • Possess strong computer skills, able to read, write, and comprehend written instructional documents
  • Working knowledge of how databases are created, formed, and upkept.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking within buildings
  • Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds at times
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, ladders, and reach with arms and hands as necessary
  • Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
  • Must be able to successfully pass an extensive background investigation
Responsibilities
  • Work in conjunction with the Federal Business Line to ensure the Builder SMS databases are kept current with condition assessments on facilities and other classifications as outlined in the Army BUILDER SMS Inventory and Assessment Guide
  • Perform assessments on client facilities using professional expertise and judgment to determine physical condition and conformance with building codes and inspection criteria
  • Update inspection and conditions results within BUILDER Sustainment Management System
  • Produce reports and recommendations based on data captured in Sustainment Management Systems
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management
  • Licensure PE, EIT, Registered Architect, Asset Management
  • Working Knowledge of Building Construction and Maintenance
  • 0-5 years Technical Knowledge and field experience with BUILDER SMS
