Job Description
Timmons Group and Dutton + Associates, LLC (D+A) is seeking a full time Archaeology Field Technician for our Archaeology Group located in our Richmond, VA office location. Under the direction of the Archaeology Field Supervisors, the Archaeology Field Technicians will be responsible for implementing surveys methods and documenting findings in accordance with all applicable standards and guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Carry out archaeological investigations (Phase I identification, Phase II evaluation, Phase III data recovery, and archaeological monitoring) in a Cultural Resources Management setting
  • Conduct archaeological excavation outdoors in all weather conditions in both rural and urban environments; with overnight stays on out-of-town projects when required
  • Work with and provide support to other members of the Archaeology Group in assisting with other field and laboratory activities as required
  • Demonstrate a "Safety First" focus
  • Perform other duties as required, including but not limited to, artifact processing, reporting, research, and technical services

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field from a recognized program
  • Experience conducting Phase I archaeological surveys
  • Ability to implement archaeological field methodologies efficiently and at a brisk pace
  • Ability to lift and carry 40lbs across diverse terrain for long distances and in a variety of weather conditions
  • A valid state driver's license and good driving record

Compensation: Our best estimate of the hourly range for this position starts at $20.00/hr. Offers are based on a range of job-related factors such as internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials and role complexity. Information on our comprehensive benefits package be found here.
