OverviewColliers Engineering & Design is seeking a skilled and dependable Survey Crew Chief to join our Survey group in Jacksonville, FL. As a Survey Crew Chief, you will lead field survey operations for a variety of projects, including boundary, topographic, construction, and utility surveys. This role requires strong leadership in the field, a solid understanding of survey methods and equipment, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. You will play a key part in delivering accurate and high-quality data that supports our engineering and design services across multiple sectors.
Responsibilities- This position may include work as a leader of one, two or three-person crews.
- Survey projects include FDOT design and ROW, topographic, aerial ground control, boundary and ALTA.
Qualifications- 10 years of field survey experience and at least 5 years of experience as a Crew Chief, or equivalent knowledge.
- Florida DOT (FDOT) project experience.
- Proficient in use of Trimble equipment.
- Candidates must be proficient with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, conventional field note-keeping, total stations and leveling.
- Experience with or ability to learn the use of 3D scanners.
- Candidate must be a self-starter, with little need for supervision once provided with a work assignment.
- Must be able to work in inclement weather.
- Willingness to travel overnight.
- A valid driver's license and clean driving record required. MVR will be checked and monitored.
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Requires a pre-employment drug screen and will require ongoing participation in the employer's random drug and alcohol testing program.
