Job description

Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential garage doors and opener systems. This role serves as the face of our company during service visits, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality repairs that exceed customer expectations.

Experience

A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in Garage Door Service or related mechanical trades.

Education

A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.

Required Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking ability.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of residential garage door systems, openers, and safety devices.

  • Valid driver’s License.

Work Conditions

  • This position involves working at residential customer locations, both indoors (garages) and outdoors, in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain.

  • Technicians regularly perform physical tasks such as lifting and carrying equipment (up to 75 lbs), climbing ladders, working overhead, and using hand and power tools.

  • Work may involve confined or awkward spaces, especially in garages or attics where opener systems are mounted.

  • Driving to multiple job sites throughout the day is required, and a valid driver’s license is required.

  • Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional evening, weekend, or emergency service calls based on customer needs.

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hard hat, and gloves, must be worn as required.

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

  • Repetitive standing, lifting, reaching, bending, climbing, & kneeling

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with garage doors, openers, springs, cables, rollers, sensors, remotes, and control systems.

  • Perform skilled repairs and routine maintenance on residential garage doors, openers, and associated hardware to ensure safe and reliable operation

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with homeowners to explain repair needs, product options, and service processes. Provide consultative product recommendations when appropriate.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all service and installation activities, including parts used, labor performed, and completion status.

  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently while maintaining a clean and organized work area.

  • Maintain an appropriate and well-organized inventory of commonly used parts and tools in the company vehicle to support efficient daily operations.

  • Respond to emergency or on-call service requests on a rotating schedule (if applicable).

  • Ensure all work complies with company quality standards, manufacturer specifications, local building codes, and safety guidelines.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time at their sole and complete discretion.
