Job description

Job Title: Field Operator (Outside Operations)
Location: Miami, FL
Reports To: Operations Supervisor
Position Summary: We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Field Operator to join our operations team. This role is responsible for performing routine operations, monitoring Client systems, and ensuring the safe and efficient loading, offloading, and oversight of equipment and processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong situational awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively to changing conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations & Shift Activities
• Perform daily operator rounds and log equipment status, performance, and abnormalities using the Versify Log System.
• Review and communicate during shift handovers; attend daily Safety and Plant Status Briefings.
• Complete Outside Operator Round Sheets, investigating and resolving any abnormal conditions.
• Ensure all required areas and equipment are physically checked at least every three hours.
ISO & Rail Car Handling
• Load/unload ISO containers and railcars, completing the Client Truck Loading Checklist and associated documentation.
• Verify safe grounding and proper functioning of the Scully system before loading.
• Inspect hoses, valves, gaskets, and all connection points for leaks or wear.
Equipment Oversight & Maintenance Support
• Verify pressures, temperatures, oil levels, and equipment condition across pumps, valves, storage tanks, and instrumentation.
• Respond to alarms and upsets per direction from the Control Room Operator.
• Use Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when preparing equipment for maintenance.
• Identify and document deficiencies, initiating maintenance work orders for resolution.
Safety & Compliance
• Adhere strictly to operational procedures and safety policies.
• Report any environmental, safety, or equipment concerns directly to the Supervisor.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, ensuring walkways and equipment areas remain clear and clean.
Additional Duties
• Drain sumps, knockout drums, and dike areas as required.
• Ensure SOP compliance, especially around high-risk activities like loading and startup.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks and support other operational activities as directed.
• Follow all verbal or written instructions from management. In case of conflicts or challenges, escalate through the Shift Supervisor for resolution.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• 2+ years of Client, petrochemical, or similar industrial field experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of process systems, valves, pumps, and instrumentation.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to safety protocols.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment:
• This role requires physical activity including walking, climbing, and lifting.
• Work is performed in an industrial outdoor environment with exposure to weather and process conditions.
