Job description

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS AN OUTLET ASSOCIATE

As an Outlet Associate, you play a vital role in supporting our mission of providing employment-related services to the community by participating in all areas of the store's daily operations. Every day is a little something different and offers both variety and routine! You will get training and experience in customer service, cashiering, evaluating, sorting and organizing used merchandise, transporting goods to and from the retail floor, rotating old merchandise off the sales floor, and general cleaning and organizing.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN OUTLET ASSOCIATE

The successful candidate will have at least three (3) months of retail store experience. Experience in used goods is a plus! This person will also be dependable to work anytime within our open hours (Store hours are Monday - Saturday 9AM- 8PM and Sundays 11AM - 7PM.).

The position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours), bend, stoop, lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 pounds, reach overhead, operate manual equipment such as pallet jacks and hand-trucks to move product throughout the store and production areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Know and demonstrate company values at all times.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to customers and donors at all times.
  • Cashier Responsibilities:
    • Accurately operate cash register, accept various forms of payment, count back change to cash-paying customers.
    • Responsible for cash register funds, including before and after counts, daily reports, and overages and shortages.
  • Production Responsibilities:
    • Assist team in achieving production goals and sales goals on a daily basis.
      • Sorting, hanging, pricing, and rolling textiles according to set standards.
      • Evaluate donations, recognize defects, judge quality, and classify used goods for pricing and distribution to sales floor.
  • Assist loading and unloading product trucks.
  • Understands and performs all Kaizen processes accurately and timely.
  • Performs all other duties as may be assigned by the Store Manager or Management Team in the process of carrying out the mission of Goodwill Industries.
  • In order to promote customer and donor satisfaction it is mandatory for employees who come in contact with the public to maintain a positive work outlook and to project a pleasant, courteous, and helpful demeanor at all times when dealing with customers, donors, co-workers, and clients.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Display work habits of regular attendance, punctuality, teamwork, initiative, willingness to learn, dependability, and promptness.
  • Actively promotes safety and loss prevention policies and reports issues immediately.
  • Answer incoming calls with a positive demeanor, using standard greeting.
  • Make store announcements periodically on overhead PA system.
  • Assist customers with fitting room access.
  • General housekeeping to include stocking merchandise, overs/unders, returns, sweeping, clean bathrooms, clean toppers and remerchandise as needed.
  • Attends and participates in monthly meetings, as required.
