Summary
This position is located at: Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA) - Fort Hood, Texas.
This announcement is in conjunction with the Fort Hood Job Fair on Wednesday May 20, 2026. Applications will be accepted at the event to be held at the Lone Star Conference Center, Fort Hood, Texas.
9:00am to 11:00am Application Turn-In.
11:00am to 2:00pm interview with possibility of On-The-Spot hire!
Please bring a government issued photo ID, social security card and a resume (max 2 pages).

Duties
Help
  • Incumbent is responsible for group management. The safety of the participants must always be the number one priority.
  • Works under general supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Manager or Recreation Specialist, instructing groups in a variety of outdoor recreation programs.
  • Uses a variety of teaching methods to effectively communicate to participants a wide range of activities such as rafting, rock climbing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, and challenge courses.
  • Must be familiar with all programs offered by Outdoor Recreation, as well as be familiar with local areas as the position requires providing information to customers.
  • Reports any problems to the Outdoor Recreation Manager or Recreation Specialist as soon as possible in order to maintain a high quality service to guests.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED training certification
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
  • Must have knowledge of and experience in a wide variety of Outdoor Recreation pursuits.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
  • At least 6 Months experience executing multiple recreation programs.

OR
  • Applicants pursuing a degree in Recreation Management, Outdoor Recreation, or a related field, and in the process of completing an internship or fieldwork program will be considered highly qualified.
